I offer two different sewing needles - this one I spent a lot of time on the Internet, trying to find a cheaper needle that functions in the same manner as the heftier needle, but isn't as costly.  And this is it.
 
Note in the pictures that I demonstrate that both the Wallace waxed cord plus the standard cord go through the eye of the needle.  The point of the needle is flat and blunt, which in my estimation is what a how a broom sewing needle should be constructed.  I don't want a weapon - just a needle that will get through tampico or broomcorn fiber!
 
The needle is 5.875 inches in length.   If nothing else, get it for a backup when you misplace your other needle!!!
